ASUS Mini PC PN51-S1-Ryzen 7 installed, mini PC type barebone
ASUS has released the mini PC “ASUS Mini PC PN51-S1”. It is a product with a size similar to the Chinese mini PC that is often introduced in Wintab, but it is “barebone”. In other words, it is not a finished mini PC and is in a state of “no OS / RAM/storage”, so a separate allowance for these parts and software is required to use it as a PC. That’s why it’s “cheap for ASUS products”.

5500U ? PN51-S1-B-B7186MD: Ryzen 7
As mentioned initially, this product does not have OS / RAM/storage. I think that Windows and Linux-based OS compatible with Ryzen can be used as the OS, but as a wintab, it cannot be said which OS is okay other than Windows.
[Specifications] DDR4-3200 (PC4-25600)
[Memory slot] SO-DIMM slot x 2 (empty slot x 2)
It is disclosed. If you have RAM with this specification, there is no problem, and when I checked it on Amazon, it seems that 8GB x 2 can be purchased from 10,000 yen or less if you are not particular about the brand.
Next is storage.
-M.2 slot (Type M 2280) SATA and PCIe & NVME compatible
-SATA 6Gb / s port (probably 2.5 inch size)
It can be installed in two. The M.2 2280 NVMe SSD was sold by Amazon for less than 6,000 yen with a Kingston 500GB SSD. So, it is a premise that “an unknown brand is fine”, but it seems that it can be procured from about 15,000 yen with 16GB RAM and 500GB SSD.
Next is the “built-in system configuration”. Although the CPU has a Zen 2 architecture, it is equipped with the Ryzen 5000 series for notebook PCs. In addition, there are a total of 5 input/output ports for USB, HDMI, and DP for video systems, and one of USB Type-C supports video output, so 3 screen output is also possible. It also supports Wi-Fi 6.
2. Mini PC PN51-S1 chassis
As you can see, it has the same size as the mini PC that is often introduced in Wintab.
Maintenance is also considered. The side can be opened in this way, and the HDD can be attached and detached. Since it is originally a barebone, there is no image, but it seems easy to attach and detach RAM and SSD.
Arrangement of side and input/output ports. USB Type-C ports are on the front and back, but only the back supports video output.
It is included in the package. Looking at this, it seems that everything except OS / RAM / SSD is complete. It also comes with a VESA bracket for mounting on the back of the display.
3. Mini PC PN51-S1 Price etc.
ASUS Mini PC PN51-S1 is on sale at the ASUS Store, and the prices as of February 22 are as follows.
? PN51-S1-B-B5187MD (Ryzen 5 5500U): 52,800 yen
? PN51-S1-B-B7186MD (Ryzen 7 5700U): 58,800 yen
A separate OS / RAM/storage is required to use it as a PC. As explained in the article, you can purchase 16GB RAM and 500GB SSD from just under 15,000 yen. The rest is the OS. When it comes to Windows, the actual selling price starts from about 14,000 yen (I can buy it for 1,500 yen on Amazon if it doesn’t matter, but w), so the total cost is about 30,000 yen. Increase.
By the way, even a Chinese mini PC costs about 60,000 yen for a product equipped with this class of CPU. For some reason, this ASUS product is cheaper than the Minisforum … If it’s not a pain to procure RAM and SSD and install the OS yourself, I think it’s surprisingly recommended.
